Fascicle 10 Tumors of the Mammary Gland is a recent book in the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) Atlas of Tumor Pathology, fourth series. Not unlike the authors of other volumes, fascicle 10 presents illustrious names within the international community of pathologists, Drs. Fattaneh A. Tavassoli and Vincenzo Eusebi. This recently available volume supersedes the third edition of this fascicle published 17 years before by Rosen and Oberman. Tavassoli and Eusebi’s book is structured similarly to the other AFIP fascicles, and it covers the many aspects of breast disease in detail, from anatomy to recent molecular genetics findings. The major focus of this book is the daily use by pathologists for the diagnosis of both common and the rare breast diseases. In the 18 concise chapters that provide innumerable details, extensive discussions, and up-to-date references, the authors share their great expertise and experience. Most of the numerous microscopic photographs are high quality, and many chapters contain helpful tables with differential diagnoses. It would not be Dr. Tavassoli’s book if it did not contain sections on the DIN and LIN classification systems. In fact, since the current classification is unsatisfying, this classification system has, at present, no convincing alternative. …
