The excellent work of Berardi et al. (2021) aroused our interest, which aimed to determine the local and systemic effects of isometric and concentric muscle contractions in conditions of experimental pain and performance fatigue in subjects with and without fibromyalgia (FM). In this sense, it is known that the individual diagnosed with FM may present changes in psychological and cognitive functions, memory and sleep disorders, in addition to depression and anxiety interfering with his quality of life. (Dell’osso et al. 2011). Among the functions mentioned, cognition and emotion can interfere with the perception of pain and play a role in maintaining chronic pain and functional disability.
