Percutaneous removal of an intravascular foreign body (IFB) was first described by Thomas et al. 1964 [1]. The earliest reports described the removal of catheter fragments and wires using self-made snares [2]. Today with the availability of better snares and other devices, various techniques are regularly used for the nonsurgical removal of a wide spectrum of IFBs [3, 4]. However, the ready availability of these devices may be a limitation in some situations. We describe a new method for the removal of an intravascular catheter fragment. The technique is simple, does not require any special devices, and can be performed in any vascular laboratory. …
