Argentina is the second largest country in South America with a population of 40 million; over 13 million people live in the City of Buenos Aires and its suburbs. Premedical education is funded by the State, either within its own institutions or through subsidiaries to nonprofit institutions. A career in medicine can be pursued at eight public and free universities, which, although they are state-funded, remain autonomous. Professors, graduates, and students vote to elect the board of directors at these universities. Crowds of students in some state universities is a serious concern for medical education. …
