Algorithms that integrate the weight of clinical risk factors for fracture risk have been developed by the World Health Organization. This FRAX® tool (http://​www.​shef.​ac.​uk/​FRAX/​index.​htm) computes the 10-year probability of hip fracture or a major osteoporotic fracture (clinical spine, hip, forearm, or humerus) using patient-derived clinical risk factures with or without the inclusion of femoral neck bone mineral density (BMD) [14]. The FRAX® tools have been widely available for more than 18 months and are soon to be incorporated into the output of densitometers. …
