Clinicians have long awaited a simple bedside method for detecting early markers reflecting the mechanisms that compensate for blood volume loss or systemic inflammatory states, and undergo changes before signs of cardiovascular insufficiency, such as systemic arterial hypotension or diminished arterial O2 saturation, become clinically manifest. …
