Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a common histologic subtype of renal cell carcinoma, and the selection of nephrectomy types for patients with ccRCC depends largely on the tumor stage. Most RCCs have been discovered accidentally through noninvasive radiographic examinations. According to the current radiographic examination method, the ability to predict T3a disease accurately before surgery still is very limited. It is not uncommon for patients to upgrade from stage T1 to T3a after surgery.
