A 43-year-old man presented himself in our emergency department with diffuse pain of the lower abdomen with a history of diarrhoea and a mild elevation of his body temperature. The day before, he had a medical consultation because of haemorrhoids. He was reasonably sure that he underwent a local endoscopic sclerotherapy. Laboratory work up showed a mild elevation of C-reactive protein (CRP) to 19.1 mg/l with normal white blood cell count (WBC).
