We read with great interest the recent paper by Nout et al. entitled “Considerations in computer-aided design for inlay cranioplasty: technical note” [
1]. As such, we applaud these surgeons for their commitment to improving the current design algorithm for customized cranial implants. Interestingly, here at the Johns Hopkins Center for Neuroplastic Surgery, we also acknowledge the great importance of properly restoring the deficient soft tissue volume within the temporal/pterional area—as commonly seen following inadvertent stripping of the temporalis muscle and temporal fat pad during the neurosurgical exposure process. …
