The article written by Jeffrey Sutton et al. is truly a magnificent piece on the topic of perioperative blood transfusion.1 The correlation between surgical outcome and cancer recurrence with perioperative transfusion has been a topic of debate at several surgical meetings across the globe. Almost all studies have shown perioperative transfusion to be associated with an adverse outcome. This study has attempted to overcome some of the shortcomings of previous studies like accounting for operative findings and technique, surgeon experience and demographic parameters, etc. The statistical methodology and analysis gives the conclusions strength. …
