A 73-year-old female with a past medical history significant for chronic lymphocytic leukemia was admitted to the hospital October 2019 for lower extremity deep vein thrombosis and was started on a heparin drip and later transitioned to apixaban. She was discharged from the hospital and two days later presented to the emergency department with concerns for dysphagia, aspiration, dysphonia, globus sensation, and left tongue deviation which started acutely after an episode of emesis.
