The Annual Meeting of the Hungarian Association of Nephrology (HAN) took place in Siófok, a resort by Lake Balaton, on 14–16 November 2002. This year, in appreciation of their outstanding contributions to clinical practice and scientific research in pediatric nephrology, pediatric nephrologists Professors T. Tulassay and G.S. Reusz were called upon to organize the congress of the entire Hungarian nephrology community (Fig. 1). During the 3 days of the meeting, 144 free communications (oral and poster) and several invited lectures were presented. More than 420 participants attended, including adult and pediatric nephrologists, 190 nurses, and other health care professionals.
