This retrospective clinical review of the diagnosis and management of isolated bronchial rupture in children, compiled from all tertiary referral and trauma centers in Israel over a 15-year period, provides one of the largest and most comprehensive clinical presentations regarding this unusual but severe injury. As the authors indicate, tracheobronchial injuries are rare in all age groups, and are extremely uncommon in children. Tracheobronchial injuries are most often caused by blunt chest trauma and frequently are a cause of death when associated with other severe injuries due to motor vehicle accidents. Isolated bronchial injuries are more rare than are tracheal injuries. …
