The “Fifth International Symposium on Interventional Electrophysiology in the Management of Cardiac Arrhythmias” was held in Bonn, Germany on October 25–27, 2007. This symposium continued a longstanding tradition of providing a scientific forum for experts from Europe and North America to evaluate developments in the discipline of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology. The scientific program followed many of the concepts of previous meetings and embraced new approaches to scientific discourse. The meeting format first examined the latest advances in the basic sciences that are the foundation of clinical science and subsequently the translation of these findings into clinical practice. These included not only the latest experiences in device therapy and catheter ablation but also new frontiers in therapy such as regenerative medicine. The major presentations of the meeting have been summarized in a series of review articles, which underwent the rigorous standard peer review process of the Journal. …
