In June 2006, the Scientific Committee on Work Disability Prevention and Integration of the International Commission on Occupational Health was inaugurated. This will serve as an international forum for scientific exchange in the area of work disability prevention and return to work research. The goals of this committee include:-
To address work disability issues that impact work re-entry, work-retention and career advancement.

To promote scientific and professional advancement of optimal methods to enhance work participation and work ability, across a range of health conditions and work situations, in developing and developed countries.

To develop new, trans-disciplinary, and evidence-based perspectives that enable better understanding and effectiveness of return-to-work processes, and opportunities for improvement.
