Innovative technique for extraction of a Kuntscher nail penetrating into the knee joint

Abstract

The authors present a technique for transtrochanteric removal of distally migrated Kuntscher nail with penetration into the knee joint using Schanz screw and T-handle. The technique is simple, does not require special equipment, and avoids opening the knee joint.
