A fundamental principle of parenchymal transection involves creating an appropriate surgical plane by traction and counter-traction. However, establishing a surgical field is more difficult with laparoscopic hepatectomy than with open hepatectomy because of the restricted instrument motion. An appropriate traction method is important to create a good surgical field during parenchymal transection. We present in this study the surgical techniques of the round ligament traction method during laparoscopic hemihepatectomy. …
