Creating an adequate surgical plane via optimal traction is essential for liver parenchymal tran.1,2 However, creating an appropriate surgical plane field is more technically challenging in laparoscopic hepatectomy compared to that in open hepatectomy owing to the limited instrument mobility and lack of direct use of the operator’s hand. Iatrogenic injury caused by forceful traction of the liver may occur during liver traction. We present a novel traction method using the STRATAFIX Symmetric (Ethicon), which we refer to as the “Pulley maneuver,” for safe and effective parenchymal transection during laparoscopic hepatectomy. …
