Laparoscopic gastric banding (LGB) was one of the most popular procedures for treating obesity in the early 1990s, but now it represents less than 7% of all bariatric procedures varied out [

Although it was used worldwide with acceptable results in terms of resolving weight loss and its comorbidities, most studies have shown that other techniques such as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy or laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass produce superior results in most series studying the same factors [
