Drain placement following laparoscopic cholecystectomy is not considered a prerequisite among most surgeons. However, in those cases in which anatomical dissection has proved difficult and there is a question of security of the clips on the cystic duct remnant, a closed drainage system can act as an early indicator of bile leakage or ongoing venous ooze. …
