Fractures in adolescents: comment on article by Konstantynowicz et al.

Recently in Osteoporosis International was published an interesting manuscript on fractures in adolescents [1]. The authors gathered significant number of data concerning several factors potentially influencing fracture prevalence including diet, physical activity, family history and others. Also the great number of subjects studied (1,246 adolescents) made the study results an important contribution to the knowledge on the fractures in young individuals. The most important finding of the study concerns the role of family history of fractures in mothers and the negative role of computer use in fracture occurrence. We consider that results of the study may be important in early prevention of fractures in adolescents. Despite valuable results we have some remarks concerning the study. …
