Hertel and colleagues have performed a 10-year follow-up of ACL reconstructions with bone-patellar-bone press-fit fixation. They presented very good results. They have used the methods of follow-up most commonly used in the literature. They report less donor site morbidity than many other authors and believe this to be due to a more shallow graft harvesting from patella and bone grafting. From our experience in Stockholm, it could also be due to the rehabilitation. My physical therapist for many years, Christina Mikkelsen, let the patients who needed to walk or stand on their knees, stand on their knees during the rehabilitation. The goalkeepers in floor-ball stand on their knees most of the time during the games. She trained them to stand on their knees after my bone-patellar-tendon-bone ACL reconstructions. They could then all return to playing without any problems from the donor site. …
