The European Respiratory Society (ERS) Monograph is a quarterly peer-reviewed series covering specific areas of respiratory medicine. It is directed towards physicians and scientists and designed to provide in-depth, yet abbreviated, reviews of selected topics. A new monograph discussing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) was released in March 2015 and is edited and written by well-known, international authorities in the field. The last monograph discussing sleep apnea in the series was published in 2010 and was excellent. In this 2015 monograph, the editors present OSA from 4 different directions: pathogenesis, at risk populations, clinical scenarios, and treatment, with 22 chapters on these abovementioned aspects. …
