The number of elderly patients has been increasing due to the ageing of society. Elderly patients tend to have comorbidities, and in particular, esophageal cancer patients tend to have many comorbidities.
1 Also, patients with esophageal cancer who undergo surgery often have malnutrition because of esophagectomy, including permanent anatomical changes.
2 A previous study reported that many comorbidities reduce nutritional status.
3 However, the association between multiple comorbidities and postoperative nutritional status remains unclear in esophageal cancer patients who undergo surgery. Hence, we investigated the influence of multiple comorbidities on postoperative nutritional status in esophageal cancer patients.
