Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT) followed by surgery is the standard treatment for patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Patients who achieve pathological complete response (pCR) after NCRT may benefit from organ-preserving and function-preserving strategies.1 Therefore, accurate pCR prediction before surgery is critical for guiding treatment decision.
