Erroneous diagnosis of an intracranial growing teratoma syndrome

We read with interest the article by Peltier et al. [1]. The authors described a bifocal germ cell tumor in the pineal and neurohypophyseal region in a young boy. Histology of the primary at three points of time during the course of the disease revealed germinoma, mature teratoma and immature teratoma in that order. The case is well detailed and highlights the complexity in management of these tumors as well as the limitation of a limited biopsy (endoscopic or stereotactic). Several points, however, need clarification and correction. …
