Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) has been utilized as a cardiac assist to improve coronary and cerebral perfusion by augmenting diastolic pressure due to the balloon inflation during diastole. However, effect of IABP on cerebral blood flow has not been sufficiently investigated. In the previous studies, transcranial color Doppler (TCCD) played an important role in neurocritical patients for evaluation of intracerebral circulation. The present case indicated TCCD could be used to optimize the trigger time for inflation or deflation and then to improve cerebral perfusion in patients with IABP. …
