This editorial aims to describe important developments and changes of European Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. We are happy to have observed a gradual rise of the impact factor over the years to 1.997 in 2007. From 2009, the Journal will not only be listed in the Social Science Index (category Developmental Psychology) but also in the Science Citation Index (category Psychiatry). This is a recognition of the status of the Journal in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry and developmental psychopathology. Another welcome development is that we face an increase of the number of submitted papers over the years as well as, even more relevant, improved quality of the submitted work. To accommodate this, the content of the Journal will expand to 12 issues per year in 2009. …
