Editorial for the New Year

It has been the practice of this Journal each year to list and thank those individuals who have assisted the Editorial Board by reviewing submitted manuscripts in the previous 12 months. On behalf of all the Editors, I would like to record our thanks. These individuals are the unsung heroes of medical publishing and deserve our appreciation. Those who are prepared to review manuscripts generally do so because they find that the work is interesting and self-educating. Criticism is an art and requires careful reading of manuscripts. The volume of reading material we encounter in our professional lives is enormous and time is not limitless. Against this background the generosity of our reviewers is to be applauded and appreciated. …
