The Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) has decided to support the development of a certification program for individuals who are commonly known as PACS Administrators. The article in this issue of JDI, “Defining the PACS Profession: An Initial Survey of Skills, Training and Capabilities for PACS Administrators” by Paul Nagy, George Bowers, Bruce Reiner and Eliot Siegel, describes the survey techniques used to define the multiple roles held by PACS administrators, engineers, managers, trainers, and integrators. The information acquired during this survey is being used as a framework for developing the certification program. …
