The readership of this journal reaches far beyond our national boundaries, and it expands on a daily basis. The global importance of mental health issues is reflected in the increasing number of substantive international submissions we receive. As such, we are using this issue to focus on reports of clinical issues and research regarding mental health challenges from virtually every continent. By highlighting these findings, we seek to remind our readers that all world citizens are vulnerable to mental illness, that systems rise to the occasion however they can, and that new models of care offer each of us unique ways to respond to the clinical conundrums we face. …
