Abstract

Proboscis is a rare congenital facial deformity identified by a rudimentary pipe-like, structure located away from the vertical midline of the face generally originating from nasal process. It usually presents with other anomalies like cleft lip, cleft palate, and mental retardation. There have been multiple cases of proboscis lateralis reported in literature. Most of these cases are reported in neonates. Here, we report a rare case of “mental proboscis” in a 9-year-old girl with Down’s syndrome.
