Alveolar distraction osteogenesis is one of the successful procedures for vertical ridge augmentation introduced by Chin and Toth in 1996 [1] McCarthy was the first surgeon to report the use of distraction osteogenesis for craniofacial skeletal defects in 1991 [2] Alveolar distraction osteogenesis provides vertical augmentation of both hard and soft tissues with significantly low morbidity rates.
