To the Editor: We read with great interest, the article by Wickramasinghe VP et al., [1] published ‘online first’ in your journal. We would like to commend the authors for their work and especially appreciate their use of body fat mass (FM) for studying obesity related risk factors in place of body mass index (BMI) in children. BMI has traditionally been used for defining and grading overweight and obesity. It is found to be strongly correlated with adiposity and increasing BMI is associated with higher risk of metabolic complications as well [2]. …
