Patients without evident symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy (HE) may present minimal HE (MHE), characterized by mild cognitive impairment, attention deficits, psychomotor slowing and impaired visuomotor and bimanual coordination. These non-evident symptoms can be revealed using psychometric tests (Psychometric Hepatic Encephalopathy Score, PHES).
