Inguinal hernia repair is a common surgical procedure. However, there is an ongoing debate about the preferred technique. The open preperitoneal mesh placement by Stoppa in 1984 as well as the open tension-free mesh repair, lying on the transversalis fascia, by Lichtenstein in 1987 established the cornerstone for the current laparoscopic management of inguinal hernia. …
