CT demonstration of omovertebral bone

A 7-year-old girl consulted for restricted motion of the left shoulder. A diagnosis of Sprengel anomaly was obvious on plain radiographs. A preoperative CT study was requested for a complete cross-sectional demonstration of the scapular anomalies. Axial CT (Fig. 1) demonstrated a transverse/oblique bone extending from the left lamina of C6 to the medial border of the left scapula. A straight posterior view of a 3-D reconstruction (Fig. 2) revealed a high position of the left scapula and a relatively large, triangular omovertebral bone.
