Atherosclerosis of the aortic artery is an important cause of embolic stroke from a non-cardiac source. Embolic stroke due to aortic thrombus without atherosclerosis is uncommon. A study of 27,855 patients with recent arterial embolic events included only 23 cases (0.08%) of aortic thrombus without atherosclerosis [
1]. Several aortic thrombus cases without atherosclerosis caused by coagulopathy associated with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) have been reported. There have been no reports of multiple aortic thrombi without atherosclerosis caused by coagulopathy associated with severe IDA. However, we report such a case herein. …
