Growth retardation can be found in up to 40% of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) [1]. Wong et al. [2] recently published in Digestive Diseases and Sciences a review discussing growth delay with height and weight impairment as a common feature of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (PIBD). The study is very relevant and added important information about the significance, aetiology, and clinical management of PIBD. However, the authors did not discuss in depth the surgery as part of the treatment of PIBD when there is growth and development delay. …
