In this issue of Child’s Nervous System, Lehrich and colleagues [1] present their findings following analysis of the US National Cancer Database (NCDB) regarding patients who were diagnosed with craniopharyngioma during childhood or adulthood. The study sample included data from 2004 to 2015. The findings of the study are thought provoking and very much demonstrate the strengths and some of the challenges associated with using large-scale data sets (e.g., secondary data analysis) in pediatric neurosurgery. …
