The scariest part was the silence. In the peak of the COVID-19 surge in early April, 2020, our drive times to work were cut in half; there were fewer cars on the road and the morning hustle of children going to school was gone. The bustling, vibrant borough of the Bronx was silent. It was eerie. The silence was only broken by the sound of sirens wailing down the streets as ambulances brought the severely ill COVID-19 patients to the Emergency Room.
