We read this paper [
1] on the surgical treatment of undisplaced femoral neck fractures with great interest since we are involved in a similar trial (registered at Clinicaltrials.gov NCT01770769). The published study is original and highly relevant because undisplaced fractures have received far less attention than displaced fractures [
2]. Furthermore, the orthopedic community needs to prepare for an increasing number of geriatric hip fracture patients as the proportion of the elderly increases [
3]. For these reasons, we feel obliged to comment on the results and interpretation of this trial. We find several inconsistencies in the reporting, which, at best, leaves the conclusions unsupported. …
