The following gaps in knowledge have been identified in clinical practice demonstrating the learner’s need to acquire the skills and strategies presented in this CME activity.
  • A normal stress MPI in patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) identifies low-risk patients decreasing the need for downstream additional testing and potential coronary interventions.
  • The definition of risk categories in diabetic patients by stress MPI presents a need for updated educational programs.
  • Accurate prognostic value of a normal stress MPI in diabetic patients is important in clinical practice and can optimize patient management strategies, impacting clinical outcomes and preventing escalating costs.
