The annual incidence of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) has increased among individuals younger than 50 years of age.
1,2 Age-specific differences in biologic behavior of ICC may exist, yet largely remain not investigated.
3 In particular, little is known about the incidence, clinical characteristics, and outcomes of patients with early-onset ICC. To this end, we sought to define the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients undergoing resection of early (≤ 50 years) versus late onset (> 50 years) ICC, as well as characterize the molecular features of each ICC subtype that may drive variations in prognosis following ICC resection.
