Practicing surgeons in low- to middle-income countries, received with great enthusiasm the article, “Global Forum of Cancer Surgeons: Perspectives on Barriers to Surgical Care for Cancer Patients and Potential Solutions” by Are et al.1 These authors report the forum’s initial efforts in uniting the Society of Surgical Oncology and several societies around the world to address disparities in cancer care and improve access to care worldwide.2 A survey was distributed to societal representatives to identify perceived barriers regarding education, clinical care, research, and workforce. …
