Thirty-one million records for patients newly diagnosed with cancer in 1985–2015 have been captured in the National Cancer Database (NCDB) from the roughly 1500 Commission on Cancer (CoC) accredited cancer programs in the United States.1 Details about clinical characteristics and treatment for these cases have been reported by certified cancer registrars to the NCDB, which has been supported by the American College of Surgeons and the American Cancer Society since its inception in 1988. …
