Rates of obesity in the transgender community are estimated to be similar to the wider population [1] and with an increased burden of health disability associated with this [2, 3]. However, relative to their cisgender peers, transgender people have higher rates of mental health problems [2], disordered or emotional eating [4] and body image/dissatisfaction issues [5, 6]. Despite this health profile, discussion about bariatric surgery in obese transgender people is rare and research is absent [7]. …
