Enhanced recovery program (ERP) is an evidence-based multidisciplinary approach to optimize the recovery of surgical patients [1]. With ERP, patients have fewer complications, a quicker recovery, and a shorter hospital stay. Several studies have demonstrated that the use of laparoscopic surgery is one of the main reasons for better outcomes following colorectal surgery within ERP. However, in daily practice, a majority of patients with colorectal cancer still undergo open surgery [2], and postoperative pain remains a challenging problem [3]. …
