Human body harbors ten times more bacteria than human cells, indicating that microbial communities should play a role for health and diseases. Changes in gut microbiota composition can alter gut barrier, lipopolysaccharides (LPS) translocation and trigger metabolic endotoxemia and insulin resistance.
