Port wine stain lesions with hypertrophic structures

Congenital vascular problems are divided into tumors and malformations. Malformations can be examined under two headings as slow-flow and fast-flow. Among them, port wine stain is classified as a slow-flow malformation characterized by hyperdilated capillaries and post-capillary veins (~ 30–300 μm in diameter) [
1]. It does not regress spontaneously like hemangiomas. Lesions initially appear as pink, well-circumscribed macules that are not raised from the surface. There is no temperature difference between the healthy skin and the lesion. It tends to progress and may develop into hypertrophic, red-purple nodules and/or papules in adulthood [
